Free Bad Salzungen events offer vital support for family caregivers in Thuringia

AOK PLUS is offering two free events in Bad Salzungen as part of Thuringia’s Family Caregivers Week. Both sessions aim to support those who look after relatives at home. Family caregivers will have the chance to gather information, share experiences, and seek expert advice.

The gatherings come at a time when home-based care remains vital in the region. Data from December 31, 2025, shows that 109,299 AOK PLUS insured individuals in Thuringia required care, with 95,631 receiving support in their own homes. The first event, the Care Café, will take place on June 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Held at the AOK PLUS Bad Salzungen branch, it will provide practical tips for family caregivers. Attendees can also connect with others in similar situations while accessing useful resources.

Two days later, on June 4, 2026, the same venue will host 'Planning Ahead—the Right Way' from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This session will focus on advance directives and powers of attorney. Experts will be on hand to offer personalised consultations.

Ilona Wojnowski, an AOK PLUS board member, has highlighted the importance of these events. She stresses that family caregivers need support not only for their loved ones but also for their own well-being. The sessions aim to address both practical and emotional challenges faced by those providing home-based care. The two events will provide free guidance and networking opportunities for family caregivers in Bad Salzungen.
