Heart Check While Shopping: Tests Aim to Prevent Diseases - Frankfurt Hospital Launches Free Heart Screenings for Women in Hesse

Frankfurt University Hospital is rolling out a new campaign to boost awareness of preventive healthcare across Hesse. The initiative kicks off with a focus on women's heart health, offering free screenings and expert advice. It forms part of the hospital's broader Prevention Year programme, which tackles different health issues throughout 2026.

The first event will take place at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum shopping centre. Women attending can receive ECGs, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol tests under the theme 'Women's Hearts Beat Differently'. The goal is to identify early risks of cardiovascular disease and encourage proactive health measures.

Lena Seegers, who leads Frankfurt's Women Heart Health Center, will join Hesse's Health Minister Diana Stolz (CDU) at the launch. Both will highlight the importance of regular screenings and personal responsibility in preventing medical emergencies.

Beyond the initial event, the campaign will expand with mobile health stations at other shopping centres. These pop-up clinics aim to make preventive care more accessible to the public. The Prevention Year initiative will later shift focus to other key health topics as the year progresses.

The campaign's first phase targets cardiovascular risks in women through free, on-site testing. Organisers hope the mobile screenings will prompt more people to monitor their health regularly. Future events will cover additional prevention themes as part of the hospital's 2026 programme.
