Fort Collins breaks ground on $80M Southeast Community Center next week

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Southeast Community Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, will take place on June 10, 2023. The event marks the start of a major project designed to serve one of the city’s fastest-growing areas. Residents and officials will gather to celebrate the future facility’s role in recreation, education, and community life. The ceremony will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at 5400 Ziegler Road. Attendees can expect live music, a mobile library, and refreshments. The City of Fort Collins Recreation mascot will also make an appearance.

Project representatives will be on hand to explain the center’s vision, sustainability efforts, and design features. Speakers include City Manager Kelly DiMartino, District 3 Councilmember Josh Fudge, and other local leaders. The center itself will offer a wide range of amenities. These include recreation and fitness spaces, an indoor walking track, and studio rooms. A public library, study areas, children’s play zones, and flexible meeting spaces will also be part of the design. For aquatic activities, plans feature both indoor and outdoor pools, along with a lazy river. Outdoor programming spaces and natural areas will complement the indoor facilities. Innovation zones will focus on technology, arts, crafts, and creative learning. The building is intended to adapt over time, meeting the needs of future generations.

The Southeast Community Center aims to provide services for all ages, from wellness and recreation to education and community events. Construction will begin after the groundbreaking, with the facility set to become a key hub in the area. Organisers have emphasised its role in supporting a growing population with diverse needs.
