The Kaiserberg Small Animal Clinic in Duisburg is moving to a much larger site in Neudorf. The current facility, one of Germany's biggest veterinary hospitals, has outgrown its space after treating around 250 animals each day. A groundbreaking ceremony has now marked the start of construction for the new clinic. The existing clinic operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, handling mostly emergencies and referrals. With 55 veterinarians and a high patient load, the team has struggled with limited space. The new building on Kommandantenstraße will cover roughly 3,000 square meters—double the current size.
The design will separate cats and dogs completely, from waiting areas to wards and treatment rooms. A new stress-reduction programme will also help cats and their owners feel more at ease during visits. The clinic expects to finish the move by late 2027 or early 2028.
Recent staff additions, including Dr. Cynthia Heinrich, Moritz Unna, Claus Vogelsang, and Sara Hiege, have strengthened the team. However, no details have been released about future hiring or specialisations at the new location. Once completed, the expanded clinic will continue offering round-the-clock care for pets. The larger space and improved layout aim to handle the high number of emergency cases more efficiently. The relocation is set to take place within the next three to four years.
