Deux Reinvents Cookie Dough as a Vitamin-Packed, Vegan Snack Sensation
A healthier take on cookie dough has caught the attention of major retailers and investors. Deux, a vegan and gluten-free brand, packs its products with vitamins and avoids refined sugars. Founder Sabeena Ladha developed the idea after years of struggling with supplement pills and a desire for tastier nutrition. Sabeena Ladha launched Deux to replace the daily capsules she had relied on for years. Instead of swallowing vitamins, she wanted a snack that delivered the same benefits. One jar of her chocolate chip cookie dough contains as much zinc as three pounds of chickpeas, while the brownie butter flavour provides the vitamin C of five oranges.
The brand quickly gained traction, earning $70,000 in sales between October and December 2020. Projections suggested it could reach $1.2 million in revenue. Whole Foods took notice, agreeing to stock Deux in 40 stores. Ladha, who moved from Dallas to Los Angeles, later appeared on *Shark Tank* seeking $300,000 for a 10% stake. Investor Robert Herjavec offered the full amount but asked for 15% equity. She declined and left without a deal. Despite the setback, Deux remains active. The company now sells DRIP, a spreadable product similar to nut butter, alongside its original cookie dough range.
Deux continues to operate with an online presence and new product lines. The brand’s focus on nutrient-rich, plant-based snacks has kept it in the market. Its expansion into spreads shows an effort to reach customers looking for healthier alternatives to traditional treats.
