A climber suffered a serious fall at the XXL leisure complex in Dresden-Dobritz on February 16, 2026. The incident happened just after midday, leaving the man with severe injuries. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to provide immediate assistance.

The accident took place at 12:37 PM when the man, climbing at the XXL Die Wand facility, lost his grip after a moment of inattention. He fell roughly six metres before landing. Firefighters and paramedics arrived quickly, with ten responders from the Striesen fire and rescue station, along with teams from the Leuben and Reick ambulance stations.

The injured climber was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance. Emergency personnel also supported his relatives, who had witnessed the fall. The operation lasted nearly two hours, concluding at 2:13 PM.

Dresden is known for its extensive climbing facilities, boasting six modern halls. These include Mandala Zeitenströmung, Mandala Postplatz (opened in November 2024), Kletterarena Dresden, and XXL Die Wand, which features a 3,200 m² climbing wall and a 900 m² boulder hall. The city has more climbing space per person than any other in Germany.

The climber's fall resulted in severe injuries, requiring hospital treatment. Emergency services managed the incident efficiently, ensuring both the victim and his relatives received care. The case highlights the risks involved in climbing, even in well-equipped facilities.
