Chaos at Central Hospital as family attacks staff over patient's death
Violence erupted at Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar after relatives of a deceased patient stormed the facility. The family accused doctors of negligence, leading to a chaotic scene that left staff injured and hospital property damaged.
The incident began when Bhagwan Nimbhore passed away during treatment, despite ongoing medical efforts. His relatives, claiming negligence, turned aggressive and vandalised parts of the hospital. Glass panels were shattered, medical equipment was thrown, and several doctors and staff were pushed and manhandled.
Patients and their families fled the area as the commotion escalated. Police arrived shortly after and managed to restore order, launching an immediate inquiry into the assault and destruction. In response, hospital staff staged a work boycott. They demanded the arrest of those involved, permanent police security on-site, and legal safeguards for medical personnel. Authorities later assured that armed officers would be stationed at the hospital to prevent future incidents.
The hospital has pledged to tighten security measures following the attack. Police investigations are ongoing, with staff awaiting action against the accused. The incident has raised concerns over safety for healthcare workers in the region.
