Central Luzon Hospital Unveils Advanced Infectious Disease Center and Lab
New medical facilities have opened at a hospital in Central Luzon. The upgrades include a dedicated centre for infectious diseases and a specialised referral laboratory. Officials say these additions will improve detection and treatment of serious illnesses in the region. The Center for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine now operates with expanded resources. It features triage emergency room beds, paediatric intensive care units, and adult ICU beds. Isolation wards, a dedicated operating theatre, and a delivery room have also been set up to handle high-risk cases.
The facility includes isolation hemodialysis beds, ensuring safe treatment for patients with contagious conditions. Meanwhile, the Central Luzon Infectious Disease Referral Laboratory has begun testing for a wide range of diseases. Its capabilities cover respiratory infections, vaccine-preventable illnesses, and tropical diseases like dengue and leptospirosis. The lab can also diagnose mpox, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and drug-resistant strains of TB. The new facilities will strengthen the hospital’s ability to manage outbreaks and complex infections. Patients in Central Luzon now have access to faster diagnostics and specialised care. The upgrades aim to reduce the spread of infectious diseases across the region.
