The Community Alternative for Homelessness and Economic Cooperative (CAHEC) has been expanding its dinner aid efforts across North Carolina. Recent partnerships in Rocky Mount, Raleigh, and Greensboro have delivered thousands of meals to families and students in need.

In Rocky Mount, CAHEC worked with the Interfaith Food Shuttle to distribute 21,029 pounds of food. This effort provided around 17,524 meals to local families facing food insecurity.

The organisation also supported School Choice pantries at two Raleigh high schools. There, 4,203 pounds of food were handed out, resulting in approximately 3,502 meals for students and their households.

Meanwhile, in Greensboro, CAHEC teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank to assist 294 households. Over 37,000 pounds of food were shared, along with toiletries and grocery gift cards. This initiative delivered 31,029 meals to those in need.

These actions form part of CAHEC's Nutrition Assistance Initiative, which aims to ensure year-round access to healthy food. The programme highlights the link between stable housing and reliable nutrition for vulnerable communities.

Through its partnerships, CAHEC has distributed tens of thousands of meals across multiple cities. The organisation continues to address food insecurity while reinforcing the importance of nutrition in supporting housing stability. No total figures for households reached have been reported in the latest updates.
