A nine-year-old boy in Nakhodka has survived a severe brain injury after falling from a scooter. Initially, his external wounds seemed minor, but his condition worsened rapidly overnight. Doctors later discovered a skull fracture and a life-threatening brain haemorrhage.

The accident happened while the boy was riding his scooter. Though he showed no immediate signs of serious harm, he woke during the night with intense headaches and vomiting. A CT scan then revealed the extent of his injuries: a fractured skull and a major bleed inside his brain.

Surgeons acted quickly to stop the bleeding by cauterising a damaged cerebral artery. They also performed a craniotomy, removing around 100 ml of clotted blood from his skull. After the operation, the boy stabilised and was later discharged for outpatient care. Medical professionals have since reminded parents to enforce basic safety rules. Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are essential, as is close supervision when children ride scooters or similar vehicles.

The boy is now recovering at home after emergency surgery. His case highlights the risks of head injuries from seemingly minor falls. Hospitals continue to treat such incidents, though exact figures for 2024 remain unavailable.
