Baptist Health closes Fort Smith's labor and delivery unit after 70 years

For many, the final shift was emotional. The labor and delivery unit has been part of the community for decades, delivering generations of babies since the 1950s. But Hamman and about 40 coworkers are now leaving after Baptist Health announced it is ending comprehensive services for women before, during and after pregnancy at its Fort Smith hospital.
