Almonds dominate U.S. snacking with record sales and bold new flavors

Almonds have become a staple in American snacking, with sales rising sharply over the past year. Their popularity stems from both nutritional benefits and versatility in products like snack bars, granola, and bold-flavoured packs. National Almond Day now highlights their firm place in daily diets.

Global almond production has climbed steadily over the last five years. In 2021, output reached around 3.3 million metric tons, growing to roughly 3.8 million by 2025. Australia, Spain, and newer producers like China and Iran contribute the rest.

Almonds now dominate the tree nut market in the U.S., with sales jumping 12% in the year ending May 2025. Retailers have also expanded their placement beyond baking aisles, making them more accessible.
