IMSS eliminates in-person visits for medical appointment bookings in Mexico

Beneficiaries of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) no longer need to visit clinics in person to book medical appointments. The institute now offers three ways to schedule consultations: through the IMSS Digital app, online, or by phone.

To use these services, patients must have their Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), an email address, and their Social Security Number (NSS). The IMSS Digital app can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Android users.

Booking through the app involves logging in, selecting 'Family Medical Appointment', choosing a date and time, and confirming the details. Alternatively, appointments can be made online by visiting the IMSS website, selecting the patient, picking a date, and finalising the reservation. For those who prefer phone assistance, IMSS provides a customer service line at 900 681 2525. Support is available Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and on weekends and holidays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. These new options help patients save time and avoid waiting in queues at clinics.

The IMSS has expanded access to medical appointments through digital and phone-based booking. Patients can now choose between the app, website, or helpline to schedule consultations. The system aims to simplify the process while reducing the need for in-person visits.
