China-Russia 'green corridor' saves critically ill patient in border emergency

A critically ill Chinese citizen was urgently evacuated through a special 'green corridor' at the Mishan China-Russia border checkpoint on March 23. The measure allowed the patient and their escorts to cross into Russia without delay for immediate medical attention. The green corridor at this border section is normally reserved for severe medical cases, including trauma victims, pregnant women, and those with life-threatening conditions. On this occasion, it was activated to ensure the fastest possible passage for the patient and their accompanying team.

The group crossed the border in record time, avoiding any hold-ups on their way to the hospital. Authorities confirmed that the corridor functioned as intended, prioritising speed and efficiency in the transfer.

This incident marks the first reported use of a green corridor at the Mishan checkpoint since 2020. The system remains in place for future emergencies, ensuring rapid border crossings when lives are at risk.
